Der "C" Patch
Spieler, die zum Mannschaftskapitän ernannt wurden, tragen normalerweise einen "C"-Patch auf ihren Trikots. Es gibt ein Standarddesign, das von allen am Kapitänsprogramm teilnehmenden Teams verwendet wird. Die Patches sind in Teamfarben und werden an der vorderen linken oder rechten Brust getragen. Die Anzahl der goldenen Sterne auf dem Patch gibt an, wie viele Jahre der Spieler von einem Team zum Kapitän ernannt wurde. Wenn er länger als vier Jahre zum Kapitän ernannt wurde, ist das "C" auf dem Patch Gold.
Bei speziellen Erkennungen kann der Patch eine andere Farbe haben – z.B. rosa für das Bewusstsein für Brustkrebs oder Camouflage für die Anerkennung des Militärdienstes. Im Jahr 2018 führte die NFL einen neuen mehrfarbigen Captain Patch für Crucial Catch ein, den die NFL und die American Cancer Society ins Leben gerufen haben, um den Krebs zu bekämpfen.
